Two NASA astronauts, Woody Hoburg and Stephen Bowen, are currently performing a spacewalk outside the International Space Station. The spacewalk began at 8:55 a.m. EDT (1255 GMT) on June 15. Their task involves installing a roll-out solar array on the exterior of the space station. The entire activity is expected to last approximately six hours. You can watch the live coverage of the spacewalk on Space.com or directly through NASA’s official channels. The coverage started at 7:30 a.m. EDT (1130 GMT).

In addition to the ongoing spacewalk mentioned earlier, Woody Hoburg and Stephen Bowen have recently completed another spacewalk. On June 9, they conducted a six-hour extravehicular activity (EVA) during which they installed one of the solar arrays called iROSAs (ISS Roll-Out Solar Arrays). This was Hoburg’s first-ever spacewalk and Bowen’s ninth, bringing his total time spent working in space to nearly 60.5 hours across four spaceflights. Only four other astronauts have accumulated more EVA time. The iROSAs are intended to enhance the International Space Station’s energy-production system rather than replacing it. NASA officials estimate that the new arrays will increase the station’s electricity generation by approximately 30%.
