  • However, work is not the only thing that saves Richard. He also has a debilitating fear of insects, especially mosquitoes. This fear is compounded when an escalating attack takes over his posh New York apartment.
  • As financial markets begin to show signs of instability, reflecting the aggressiveness of swarms of flies, Richard’s grip on reality begins to weaken. He develops a strange relationship with mosquitoes, even eating them, blurring the distinction between man and insect.
